There were 39 members including our newest member Alby Collister – Welcome and keep bringing the good weather with you!
We also had 17 guests making this the biggest turnout this year. Andy had put on seven stands – giving us a greater range of targets and of course reducing the queuing. Even with an extra stand, this increased entry means that we have to refill the traps at some point. Andy tries to put traps in positions so that we do not have to disrupt too much of the shooting to complete refills, but there were a couple at the top of the woods where we had to stop three stands and of course, this one turned out to be the most troublesome and caused some queuing.
There were some close results in the classes. AA was won for the second month in a row by Jason Stredwick on 52. Chris Clark and James Faulkner were second with 48 each. Nigel Foreman has been shooting consistently well this year and won A Class with a great 55, just one ahead of Peter Saich on 54. Another great score and a personal best 51 saw Alex Blackwell take first in B. Runner up in B was John Martin on 47. Ron Turner won C Class with 43, just ahead of joint runners up Steven Keane and Philip Spooner.
A special mention goes to Chip Smith who comes and supports us when he is not shooting for England or Great Britain because he likes Andy’s thoughtful and varied targets. Even by his high standards he had a good day and scored 59, missing just one target on stand one. Well done Chip, great consistency and a lesson to us all in concentration.
Finally, thank you to the various members who helped set up and Saturday and Sunday, and those who helped clear away afterwards – It is always greatly appreciated and the Club could not function without this help.
