October 2022

This month 42 members and 18 guests were in attendance for a 60 bird shoot over 7 stands. The weather was kind to us for October with sunshine and a gentle breeze.
Alongside the regular monthly trophy shoot was a side-by-side competition for the Surrey CPSA title and Webley & Scott trophy for non-Surrey-CPSA shooters. Surrey CPSA winner was Peter Saich scoring an excellent 53, with Danny Smith runner up on 43. The Webley & Scott trophy winner was John Morgan on 38 and John Hughes in second place with 29.
As for the regular competition, Steve Keane (38) triumphed in C class and Rick Warrington topped B class with a fine 47. Winner in A class was Nigel Foreman who returned after a lengthy absence and score a very good 54. Non-trophy AA class and high gun was tied by Glen Boxall and Andy Willett, who for the second time this year both scored 56.

Well done to all of our winners this month and thanks to everyone who helped set up, run and pack away the shoot.

September 2022

33 members and 8 guests took part in this month’s shoot.

There were some impressive scores in B and C class.

High gun and AA class top score was Kevin Scarlett with 51, A class was won by Chris Clark on 48. Alan Davies was top of B class with 47 and C class winner was Stuart Hulme on 44. Well done to all of our winners this month.

As always, a big thank you to all who helped set up, run and pack away the shoot.

August 2022

35 members and 7 guests took part in this month’s shoot.
The layout turned out to be quite a challenging one, with some difficult to read targets. The number of stoppages due to mainly battery problems also didn’t help with concentration.

High gun, again, was Glen Boxall in AA with 51.
Winner of A Class was our President, Peter Saich on 46.
Also with a great score of 46 in B Class was Aaron Wiggins and Paul Trusler topped C Class with 37.
Well done to all of our winners this month.

A big thank you to all who helped set up, run and pack away the shoot in the hot conditions.

July 2022

On a hot summer day, 34 members and 12 guests took part in this month’s shoot.
The layout was set up over 7 stands with a variety of targets.

First mention must go to Phil Saich, whose car went into limp mode and broke down on the way to the shoot. Phil’s shooting very much didn’t though, as he achieved a personal best of 50, winning C class by a large margin (and he would have triumphed in A class on countback).
B class winner was Alex Blackwell on 47 and Kevin Scarlett topped A class with 50.
In non-trophy AA class, Glen Boxall’s 58 was the highest score of the day.

A big thank you to all who helped set up, run and pack away the shoot in the uncomfortably warm conditions.

June 2022

Attendance was down again this month with just 31 members and a handful of guests.

The layout over 7 stands was deceptively tricky for some.

Well done to one of our newest members, Ian Parish, on his first trophy win in C class with a fine 40 scored. B class was topped by Chris Wells on 47, which was the second highest score of the day. Des Park was high gun and winner of A class with an excellent 49.

Congratulations to all of our winners and a big thank you to all those involved with setting up, running the shoot and packing away afterwards.

May 2022

36 Members and a handful of guests (not all of whom handed in their score cards) attended the May shoot. Unfortunately the weather turned wet half way through the morning and the rain continued in the afternoon whilst packing away.

Scores were up across the board today compared to recent months and the results were close in all classes.

In C Class, Richard Collins and Ron Turner both scored 41, with five levels of countback need to separate them and resulting in Richard winning the John Spooner Trophy.

The winner of the Reg Rice Cup in B Class was Alex Wells with a very good 50 and in A Class the Valdar Gates Cup was won by James Horrod with an excellent 53.

In the non-trophy AA Class both Glen Boxall and Andy Willett scored 56.

Well done to everyone and as always thanks goes to all who helped with setting up, running and packing away afterwards.

April 2022

On a sunny Easter Sunday, 31 members and 12 guests shot today on a varied layout that clearly suited some more than others.

First mention should go to Gary Evans. High Gun and winner of A class with a brilliant 50, even the trailing pair of Easter Bunnies couldn’t faze Gary on the day. Well done!

Elsewhere…
AA class was topped by Glen Boxall on 49, Ian Hargreaves triumphed with a fine 45 in B class and Alex Spooner was just one clay behind with an outstanding 44 to take C class.

The club offers a warm welcome to a number of new members today: Rick Warrington, Jon Watson, Ian Parish and Steve Keane.

As always thanks goes to all who helped with setting up, running and packing away afterwards.

March 2022

32 members and 15 guests turned out today to shoot in warm and sunny spring-like conditions. The layout was over the usual 7 stands, with a wide variety of targets and hopefully something for everyone.
Top score in C Class was 37 by Peter Garland and B Class was won by Chris Clark on 43. There were two scores of 50 today; Glen Boxall in AA and Andy Willett in A.
All scores are below.

February 2022

Turnout this month for the last round of the 2021-2022 Winter Series was on the low side, with just 29 members and 7 guests in attendance. Most likely this was due to the current weather and the strong and gusting wind did make the targets more challenging.
Top score today was 47, achieved by both Glen Boxall and Peter Saich. On countback with 2 straights to 1, Glen topped A Class and is promoted to AA.
B Class was won by Des Park on 43 and with 37, Jerry Sollick top scored in C Class.

The conclusion to the Winter Series saw a very close finish in all three classes. The top 3 positions in each class are as follows:

A Class
Peter Saich 136
Matt Oldland 134
Andy Willett 132

B Class
Chris Clark 120
Adrian Joy 118
Alex Blackwell 116
Aaron Wiggins 116

C Class
Jerry Sollick 102
Ron Turner 100
Phil Saich 99

January 2022

32 members and 16 guests attended the January shoot on a day of changeable weather, with periods of alternating fog and sunshine coming and going.
Firstly a huge thank you to everyone involved in preparing, setting up, running and packing away afterwards.
The layout was an unintentionally tricky one this month with perhaps a few too many technical/difficult to read targets.
Worthy recipients of the John Tarryer Cups for winning the randomly drawn handicapped Pairs Competition this year were Stuart Hulme & Gary Evans with a combined score of 118.82. In second place were Phil Saich & Matt Oldland on 114.09 and third place was taken by Charlie Palmer & Paul Trusler with 112.63.
The full results of the Pairs Competition are here, an update after Round 3 of the Winter Series is here, whilst unadjusted class scores for January are below.
